Lake County Welcomes New Salvation Army Leadership
The Salvation Army recently welcomed Captains Dale and Rebecca Simmons and Lieutenant Betsy Clark as new leaders in Lake County. Captain Rebecca Simmons takes over the position of Lake County Coordinator, while Captain Dale Simmons and Lt. Betsy Clark will serve as the Gary/Merrillville Corps Officer (pastor) and the Hammond/Munster Corps Officer (pastor), respectively.
Effective June 26, 2013, the newly assigned officers replace Majors Russell and Jan Sjögren and Captain Brenda McCoy. Captains Daniel and Nivia Paredes remain the Corps Officers at The Salvation Army in East Chicago and Captains Robb and Lynn Buttrey remain as the Administrators of the Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC).
Captains Simmons move to Lake County after serving for two years with The Salvation Army in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, IL and, before that, 14 years in Kansas City. Lt. Clark comes to Lake County directly from The Salvation Army’s College for Officer Training. This is her first appointment as a Salvation Army Officer.
All of the officers expressed their excitement in joining the Lake County Community. Captain Rebecca Simmons remarked, “The Salvation Army exists to meet human needs in the name of Jesus Christ without discrimination. We hope to only improve the work of The Salvation Army in Lake County, helping more people and transforming more lives.”
The Salvation Army recognizes the tremendous support of the donors and volunteers who support The Salvation Army’s work in Lake County each and every day. This support is especially necessary in the summer months when many children do not receive regular meals and rely on The Salvation Army’s food pantry to provide their family with 3 regular meals a day.
